Why I love knitting designs by Olga Grishina
Beautiful, modern, and surprisingly easy to knit
As a knitter, I’m always on the lookout for patterns that are stylish, innovative, and a joy to make. One designer who keeps inspiring me time and time again is Olga Grishina. If you haven’t discovered her work yet, you’re in for a treat!

Over the past years, I’ve knitted four of her beautiful designs: the May Jumper, the Rye Jumper, the Aisha top and the Forest Top. You’ll find pictures of each of these pieces throughout this post. What they all have in common? A stunning, modern look with clever construction — and yet they were surprisingly easy and enjoyable to make.
Effortlessly elegant designs
Olga’s patterns are the kind that instantly catch your eye. She has an amazing sense of shape and texture. Think graceful cables, flattering fits, and subtle but striking details that make every design feel special. Her knitwear has a high-fashion feel but remains totally wearable — perfect for everyday life or a statement piece in your handmade wardrobe.

The first item I’ve knitted, was the May Jumper. The flowing cables look intricate, but the pattern walks you through everything so clearly that it’s hard to go wrong. The Rye Jumper feels cozy and modern with its clean structure and texture, while the Forest and Aisha Top are lighter pieces that are perfect for summer. Especially the two summer tops have major Sézane vibes. So if you’re looking for this style (but handmade), look no further.
Clear, detailed instructions
One of the reasons I love Olga’s patterns so much is the clarity and precision she brings to every design. Each pattern is written with exceptional detail, including both charts and written instructions, stitch counts, shaping explanations, and helpful notes.

As someone who appreciates a well-structured pattern, I can honestly say Olga’s are among the best I’ve worked with. There’s no ambiguity — you always know exactly what to do, even in the more technical sections. This makes her patterns accessible for confident beginners, but still interesting enough for experienced knitters.
Trend-Focused and consistently fresh
Another thing I admire about Olga is how she stays on top of knitwear trends. Her designs feel current and relevant, blending classic techniques like cabling with modern silhouettes and finishes. Plus, she’s regularly releasing new patterns — which means there’s always something new to get excited about.
