I am so happy that we are live! I love to knit myself and talk about knitting.

With this website I want to connect to other knitters and surround myself with positive vibes. In this first article I wanted to share with you a little bit about me (Marjan, 1985), my knitting journey and this website.

How I started knitting

The knitting basics I’ve learned from my grandma at the early age of 6. I remember that she taught me how to hold the needles and pass over. My first test knits were crooked as could be. I couldn’t understand why I started with 10 stitches and ended up with 14. I think everyone’s start of their knitting journey.

Knitting became a true hobby for me in my early 30’s. I wanted to have something creative that I could take offline. Knitting was an easy choice for me. The first knit was a scarf and I barely knew how to cast on and cast off.

But gradually I became better, experimenting more and enjoyed wearing my homemade knits.

My favorite knitwear

By far my most knitted items are sweaters for myself. Once I became more secure about my knitting, I made sweaters for my husband and friends.

I really like trend colors to match the season. The one day I love intricate cable patterns. The other day I love simple stockinette stitch but with beautiful colors.

Trend watching

I love watching fashion trends. Every time I see knitwear I think: ‘I can knit that myself’ (which is not always the case, but a girl’s gotta try right). I take pictures when I’m shopping and go online to find a pattern to match the outfit. In that way I can make trendy knitwear, be creative and have a great hobby.

People never believe me when I say that I made the knitwear myself. I think that’s a huge compliment.

Knitwear on the runway

Knitting might have a bit of an old fashioned vibe. With knitterslounge I want to show you that knitwear can be fancy and sophisticated. With trend reports and ways to style your knitting. Every season I watch the runway shows and report to you the latest knitwear fashion. So you will be up to date and on trend.

Why knitterslounge

So, why did I start knitterslounge.com? I wanted to have a place for likeminded knitter to connect. I really like the positive vibe surrounding this handcraft. But I also want to show you that knitting is not only a fun hobby, but you can make beautiful on trend knitwear yourself.

What can you find here

On knitterslounge you will find a community. Here you can ask your questions to our loving community. For beginners and more advanced knitters alike. Questions regarding knitting techniques, patterns, yarn. You can ask anything. Let’s make this a fun place.

Do you feel like getting inspired? There is a separate section for that. I will share fashion trends, new knitwear designs and update you regularly.

Finally, we offer courses for knitters. The first course will be an online course, especially for the beginner knitter. With plenty of video tutorials and written down instructions. So you will be ready to go in no time.
